The West Peru Grammar School was built in 1936, and the first class began in January of 1937. At that time the other schools in town were closed and the students were moved to the West Peru School.

The school was located on Main Street just west of Route 108 and it had four class rooms on the top floor and playrooms and bathrooms for boys and girls in the basement. The class of 1950 was the last class to graduate from this school before a new addition was built the summer of 1950 to house the growing number of students in town.
